La Jolla Shores, Fri Nov. 23, 2007
We did 2 dives this morning at LJS. The waves were 0-1 ft. with an occasional 2 ft.! Slight southerly current. It was soooo flat! Vis in the shallows (shallower than 20-25′) was a decent 15+’ and deeper was 30+’. There was some slight signs of the red tide, but not too bad. Lowest temp I got was 57deg (Suunto) at 73′ deep. Usual critters seen… a lot of the huge rockfish and schooling baitfish hanging about.
We hit the water again for a second dive to the main wall. Very mellow dive, 2 decent sized octopus spotted, one out and about- which seemed odd for lunch time. Lots of sheephead and bass, low tide approaching but still flat surf wise. Vis was a bit better than yesterday at 70′ish feet but unfortunately no angel sharks sighted today.
Viz: 20 – 30 ft
Max depth: 73 fsw
Temp: 57F
